Over the 2024 summer break, I was able to gain real-world experience working as an artist through an internship at Lisson Gallery in Beijing. The opportunity to work at an established art gallery was eye opening, as I was able to learn from  professionals in the field and gain a better understanding of the intersections between art and business. That summer I also worked part-time at a cartooning company in China named Ao Fei. I was also very grateful to be able to work at that company as they created one of my favourite and most iconic childhood cartoons such as Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf and Bernard. Working there opened my eyes into how the cartooning companies work behind the scenes, and all the preparation that has to go behind even producing merchandise for the cartoons. Additionally, I was also able to work in the studio for the fine artist named Ding Yi in Shanghai. I helped him manage his archives and transcribe interviews. For the short amount of time I was able to work with Mr. Yi, I was able to look into his creative process of being a fine artist and personally get to know more about the fine arts world.
